CHORD SHAPES

Welcome to this Drunk Guitar Tutorial by Ed Sheeran!
This is a really simple song with basic chord shapes and no barre chords (yay for beginners!). It also requires no capo so it’s going to be easy to bust this one out at any party or bonfire whilst drunk. When Ed Sheeran plays it live he adds a little more in terms of dynamics, but for the sake of showing you the basics, I just go through the chords and a basic strumming pattern you can use throughout.

[Intro]

G

[Verse 1]

G
I wanna be drunk when I wake up
                  D/F# Em
On the right side of the wrong bed
And every excuse I made up
Tell you the truth I hate
      Cadd9
What didn't kill me
                          D G
It never made me stronger at all.
G
Love will scar your make-up lip sticks to me
             D/F# Em
So now I'll maybe leave back there
                                  Cadd9
I'm sat here wishing I was sober
                                     D G
I know I'll never hold you like I used to.

[Pre-Chorus]
         Em D
But our house gets cold when you cut the heating
 G Cadd9
Without you to hold I'll be freezing
Em D
Can't rely on my heart to beat it
G Cadd9
'Cause you take part of it every evening
Em D
Take words out of my mouth just from breathing
G Cadd9 G
Replace with phrases like when you're leaving me.
       A7sus4 Cadd9
Should I, should I?

[Chorus]

               Em G
Maybe I'll get drunk again
       Em G
I'll be drunk again
       Em G
I'll be drunk again
                  Cadd9 D
To feel a little love

[Verse 2]

G
I wanna hold your heart in both hands
                                         D/F# Em
I'll watch it fizzle at the bottom of a Coke can
And I've got no plans for the weekend
So shall we speak then
                        Cadd9
Keep it between friends
                                               D G
Though I know you'll never love me like you used to.

G
There maybe other people like us
                                            D/F# Em
You see the flicker of the clipper when they light up
                                                Cadd9
Flames just create us, burns don't heal like before
                         D G
You don't hold me anymore.

[Pre-Chorus]

    Em D
On cold days Coldplay's out like the band's the name
G Cadd9
I know I can't heal things with a hand shake
 Em D
You know I can't change as I began saying
G Cadd9
You cut me wide open like landscape
Em D
Open bottles of beer but never champagne
G Cadd9 G
We'll applaud you with the sound that my hands make.
       Asus4 C
Should I, should I?

[Chorus]

               Em G
Maybe I'll get drunk again
       Em G
I'll be drunk again
       Em G
I'll be drunk again
                 C D
To feel a little love

[Bridge]

Em G
All by myself

I'm here again
Em G
All by myself

You know I'll never change
Em G
All by myself
        D Em
All by myself

[Chorus]
         Em G
I'm just drunk again
         Em G
I'll be drunk again
         Em G
I'll be drunk again
                  Cadd9 D
To feel a little love
